Crist to interview Hillsborough elex applicants Friday

Gov. Charlie Crist will be in Tampa on Friday to interview applicants to replace Hillsborough Supervisor of Elections Supervisor Phyllis Busansky, who passed away suddenly last month.

Among those seeking to take over the post held by the Busansky, a Democrat, are Republican Tampa Sen. Victor Crist, former Hillsborough schools superintendent Earl Lennard, and former Tampa Trib editorial page editor Rosemary Goudreau. Republican Sandy Murman, former Tampa Bay legislator, also has put her hat in the ring, which has more than a dozen total.

Asked if he feels pressured to name a Democrat to the post, since Busansky was a D, Crist replied: "I would consider all. That's why I'm looking forward to interviews tomorrow."
