Crist Leads Jim Who? by 10; Few Undecideds
A new Quinnipiac University poll in the governor's race has Republican Charlie Crist with a 10-point lead, 53 percent to 43 percent. Three percent were undecided and 28 percent of those surveyed said they might change their mind before Election Day.
The most stunning number in this poll is this: 57 percent said they don't know enough about Davis to form an opinion. (This survey includes 783 likely voters, conducted by phone Oct. 3-8, with a MOE of +/- 3.5 percentage points).
A Quinnipiac official, assessing the figures, comes about as close as possible to sticking a fork in Davis.
"Congressman Jim Davis has a tough road ahead of him and not much time to get there," said Peter Brown, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute. "He hasn't come close to introducing himself to enough Floridians to win. Almost six in 10 voters say they don't know enough about him."
