Crist: No point in debating flip-flopping Rubio
The Buzz caught up with Gov. Charlie Crist on Friday as he toured a new medical clinic at MacDill Air Force Base and assisted during the swearing-in ceremony of Hillsborough County Judge Richard Weis.
When asked when he might be willing to debate Marco Rubio, his opponent in the 2010 Republican primary for the U.S. Senate, Crist said he doubted it would help voters make a decision. "I don't know if it would be worthwhile because I can't have any confidence in what he might say," he said.
And why is that? In part because of Rubio's position on federal stimulus money. Crist said it seems Rubio has flip-flopped on the issue, because he criticized Crist for campaigning for the package but then said if he were Governor he would have accepted the money.
"It's remarkable," Crist said. "One thing comes out of his mouth and another thing is his record. It's hard to have any confidence in what he says anymore."
Interesting, coming from a candidate who has been caught in his own flip-flops.
