Is Crist 'Playing Politics' with Moore Case?

11

October

Two state lawmakers on Wednesday joined the criticism of Charlie Crist's reexamination of the 1951 murders of civil rights leader Harry T. Moore and his wife, Harriette.

"Crist’s investigation brought no new facts ... and now he wants to come forth and say all the things he’d done in this case to try to make headway in the black community, which I think is playing politics," state Sen. Les Miller said during a conference call arranged by the Jim Davis campaign.

Crist had planned to use Moore's daughter in a TV ad praising the investigation, but now says he will not.

Responds the Crist campaign: "Charlie Crist did his job as Attorney General and sought justice for the Moore family. His record of doing the right thing when it comes to Civil Rights speaks for itself - from the Moore investigation to the Marvin Davies Civil Rights Act to the Southern Inn settlement. The Davis campaign is simply trying to distract Floridians from Jim Davis' poor record on civil rights, especially voting against compensation for Pitts and Lee."
