Crist Pushes Tax-Cut Talk
Charlie Crist pushed the message on Monday that he's for cutting taxes and Jim Davis isn't. His evidence is Davis' opposition to a Crist proposal to double the Florida homestead exemption, to $50,000, subject to approval by voters in each county.
"I'm for lowering taxes. My opponent is not .... He thinks we ought to help government. I think we ought to help people," Crist said in Orlando. Later, in Jacksonville, Crist told reporters: "What I want to do is cut property taxes, and he doesn't, and that's the difference."
Davis is working on his own tax relief program, but the way Crist pushed the theme on a three-city fly-around Monday suggests it's about to take flight in a new TV ad.
