For Crist, a quiet No. 51
Gov. Charlie Crist turned 51 Tuesday. He marked the date with a ceremonial bill signing in Hialeah, a speech to the La Raza conference of Hispanic leaders in Miami Beach, and an afternoon reception at the governor's mansion honoring Bob Butterworth, who has been cited by the National Governors Association for his long public career.
"I got two cakes today already. I think that's probably enough," said the light-eating governor. It was a much quieter birthday than the Big Five-Oh, which Crist observed a year ago today with a big campaign fund-raiser at the Sirata Beach Resort in St. Pete Beach and a poll that showed him far ahead of his rivals in the race for governor.
