Crist sends new missive to BP: make good on marketing dollars
Gov. Charlie Crist is not ready to take no for an answer when it comes to the latest rejection from BP for additional marketing dollars to local economies crushed by the bad PR from publicity over tarballs, oil slicks and gooey sludge rolling onto some Florida beaches. He's penned another letter to BP VP Doug Suttles and this time he writes with an edge.
First he lists the promises from Daryl Willis, the BP claims manager, that local governments could ask BP for more marketing money as long as they directed them to Suttles. He even offers a link and time stamp Willis made the promise. Then he notes that he, and "all Northwest Florida Counties'' followed up and made their requests. But the requests have now been rejected.
"Based on the above information, I respectfully request that you provide Florida the additional marketing dollars to be distributed to local governments as directed by Mr. Daryl Willis, or you provide a written and transparent process for local governments so that they may obtain funding directly from BP..."
