Crist: "The Speaker's a great man"
Fresh off Saturday's male bonding ritual with Speaker Marco Rubio, the governor continued Monday to offer lots of public comments of praise for Rubio - who continues to stand firm on his property tax plan, with five days to go until Sine Die.
Gov. Charlie Crist, speaking Monday morning after he certified the recent special election of House Rep. Darren Soto, commended Rubio for seating the Democrat Soto right away. "The Speaker's a good man."
Asked whether he thought Saturday's meeting with Rubio (which, notably, included Crist's policy guys Towson Fraser and George LeMieux) might actually include substantive talks toward a property tax resolution, Crist smiled - and promptly avoided a direct answer.
"I thought it was a gracious offer by the Speaker, my friend Marco Rubio. I'm a big football fan, so that hit a nerve. He's smart enough to know that."
