Crist: We'll do 'absolutely everything' to win
The ballroom at the Rosen Shingle Creek was half empty but the enthusiasm was high among the GOP officials gathered for an RPOF rally Saturday. Highlights included Sarah Palin and George W. Bush look-alikes in the crowd. Lowlights included Fred Thompson's dry speech reminding us why he's not the nominee.
Charlie Crist: “We can do anything for 17 days, and we will,’’ Crist said, urging activist to ramp it up for the final days. “Everything – absolutely everything – to make sure John McCain and Sarah Palin win this thing.”
Fred Thompson: "The last time I was in this building, a presidential debate, John McCain was running fourth or fifth. We've underestimated him before but we're not going to underestimate him on election night."
To the west on the I-4 corridor, over 500 union workers were knocking on doors in Lakeland for what was billed as the largest, single canvassing event ever in Florida. In Sarasota, hundreds of "Women for Obama" were supposed to be supposed to be walking across the Ringling Bridge as a show of support.
