Crist's new ad

The new Charlie Crist for governor touts his newspaper endorsements quoting directly from several of the (GOP-leaning editorial boards). You can see it on the campaign website here. The script:

"Florida newspapers overwhelmingly choose Charlie Crist. Joining Senators Connie Mack, Mel Martinez and John McCain. Charlie Crist is focused and consistently solid on cultural issues, pro-life, better able to continue the policies of Jeb Bush. The times demand a leader with clear vision, an independent streak and a proven track record. Charlie Crist is far and away the best choice. Tom Gallagher is embarrassingly unprepared to lead, shown terrible judgment. Charlie Crist is trustworthy.''

Gallagher has yet to receive a major newspaper endorsement, though the Miami Herald is expected to weigh in Sunday. A little trivia: in the last GOP gubernatorial primary, Jeb Bush didn't receive a single major newspaper endorsement. Pretty much sweeping the endorsements in 1994 were Jim Smith and Tom Gallagher. Apparently the papers liked Gallagher's moderate record and platform.
