Crist's Tour Gets Rolling
Scott spoke of Crist's leadership in the Senate on crime and ethics issues. "We think he's ready for another big job," Scott said of Crist, who was elected attorney general in 2002.
Crist spoke about education and crime, and touted his sponsorship of the law that requires prison inmates to serve at least 85 percent of their sentences.
"The most important thing government does is protect you," Crist said, referring to the "ensure domestic tranquility" clause in the Constitution.
Crist is riding in a luxurious black motor coach emblazoned with a "Fighting for Florida!" sign on the side, trailed by a similar second coach and a half-dozen traveling reporters. The first day of the tour sends Crist to Naples, Port Charlotte and Sarasota, ending with a rally at his alma mater, St. Petersburg High School.
