A cupful of Crist on 'Morning Joe'
Gov. Charlie Crist was busy at work at his other job Thursday as a cable-TV surrogate for John McCain. "He's the man!" MSNBC's Joe Scarborough said of Crist, introducing the smiling governor direct from the Governor's Mansion. "It gets boring, he's so popular!" Scarborough, a former Republican congressman from Pensacola, planned to meet Crist later in the day in the Panhandle.
Asked about the accuracy of the Obama campaign's characterization of John McCain as a "doddering old man," Crist told Joe: "Not at all ... It sounds like negative campaigning to me." After wishing his 76-year-old father Happy Birthday on national TV, Crist returned to McCain: "He is strong. He is sharp. He is on his game. He gets it. He understands that we need to cut taxes. He understands that climate change is an important issue. He understands that the American people are suffering at the gas pump."
