C.W. Bill Young will run for re-election
U.S. Rep. C.W. Bill Young, R-Indian Shores, announced tonight that he will run for a 21st term. Times reporter Curtis Krueger has the full report here.
"Beverly told me that if I didn't run, she was going to," Young said of his wife. So he thought, "maybe I better stay on the job."
Young, 79, is the longest serving Republican in Congress. And his decision is a strong sign the GOP will keep the seat. Democratic challenger Charlie Justice said in a statement, "A huge sigh of relief is being heard from the special interest lobbyists who fuel Congressman Bill Young's campaigns with contributions in return for questionable earmarks that have become symbolic of everything that is wrong with Washington."
