Dan Webster showing signs he's ready to take on Alan Grayson
It would be foolish for someone to call friends together for a "major announcement" only to say you are not going to run for political office. Of course it would be. So it appears Dan Webster, the former House speaker and state senator, is going to launch a bid after all for the congressional seat now held by Democrat Alan Grayson of Orlando.
Webster's wife sent this e-mail to family and friends:
Our family would like to invite you to attend a major political announcement by Daniel Webster concerning Congressional District 8, currently held by Alan Grayson.
The event will take place THIS THURSDAY, April 22, at 5:30 pm, at the corner of West Highway 50 and Good Homes Road in Ocoee. There is a new Walgreens on the corner. We will meet next to the football field at Central Florida Christian Academy, just behind Walgreens. You can park at the church, or there are parking spaces at the unopened Walgreens.
Webster would bring name ID but he flirted with the idea months ago and since then, other Republicans have lined up and the national party is said to prefer businessman Bruce O'Donohue. Webster has not returned several messages the Buzz left him in recent weeks.
