David Plouffe feels good about Fla
Senior White House Adviser and 2008 Obama campaign manager David Plouffe was at the West Tampa Sandwich shop today with the president, so we asked about Florida. Being Florida, it will be close, he said, but the campaign feels good.
"We've been outspent a lot here, so I think we feel very pleased that we've been able to maintain our position here in the face of a withering assault, but we're spending enough to get our message out," he said.
A lot of people expected Florida could be a tough reach for Obama this year, but the state has remained neck and neck in the polls, if not leaning slightly toward the president. This after Romney and his allies have outspent Obama and his on TV ads by about $10-million.
"We always believed in Florida even when others didn't. This is the same as last time. People told us we were nuts to be contesting Florida because McCain had a big lead on us, but you've got to look how you think the vote is going to unfold," Plouffe said.
