Davis plans roadblocks for Smith tour



Rod Smith departs on his bus tour across Florida today and will enjoy a cascade of news articles over the next few days. But the Jim Davis campaign, which calls the tour "an extensive public relations road show," plans a daily critique on the state senator's record.

First up: class size. The campaign notes how Smith opposed a class size amendment in 2003 (he later called it the "wrong solution to the wrong ill") but now supports it. Read the full attack in comments.

UPDATE: Smith responds via U.S. Rep. Kendrick Meek: "As the author of the class size amendment, I am deeply disappointed in Congressman Davis' political and ill-informed attack. Rod Smith has always been a strong advocate of reducing class size. While we have sometimes disagreed on the best way to achieve that, Rod Smith has been a key advocate for standing for the people's will on the class size amendment. His support for smaller class sizes is one of the main reasons I have endorsed him."
