Davis remains upbeat

M2 Surrounded by 30 family and friends, Jim Davis and Daryl Jones took time to reflect on the race, remaining upbeat even as early results showed Charlie Crist doing well.

“We have had a great few days on the road. There is a lot of energy, a lot of interest. People want change,” Davis said about 8:30 p.m. from a suite on the 11th floor of the Grand Hyatt Tampa Bay. “We think tonight it going to be a very power night.”

Davis said he did not think the weather played a negative role. “We wanted to give people a reason to stand in the rain.”

"It is out of my hands. It is in the hands of the voters,” he went on. “We succeeded in letting the voters know our vision for the state and that’s all I ever wanted to do.”

Said Jones: “We just look forward to serving the state. I’m humbled by the experience and excited at the same time.”
