In the Debate Spin Room
It's all a matter of perspective.
Here's how Charlie Crist's running mate, Rep. Jeff Kottkamp, summed up Tuesday night's gubernatorial debate: "It was Michael Jordan playing one-on-one against Pee Wee Herman."
Former Gov. Buddy MacKay, a Democrat and Jim Davis supporter: "They both scored well. They both stayed on message. I was very pleased with the way Jim Davis phrased it, about 'stay the course or change.' I thought that was important ... I think Davis has got as good a shot as Democrat have had in a long time. He's got to keep taking it to Crist."
Justin Sayfie of The Sayfie Review, a Republican and Crist supporter: "I thought they were both well-prepared. Obviously, I thought Charlie did a better job of communicating what his vision was, and Jim Davis seemed to be more negative and more focused on being critical of Charlie Crist."
Rep. Dan Gelber, D-Miami Beach, on Davis' acknowledgement that he made a mistake in the Pitts and Lee vote: "It's an honest thing from a guy who's trying to lead citizens, and people understand he's human. The fact that he can do that was, I thought, a very courageous thing to do, and I think it's going to help him with people."
