Dem poll: Alex Sink 47, Rick Scott 41
A Oct. 9 - 12 SEA poll of 700 likely voters conducted on behalf of the Florida Education Association shows Alex Sink looking strong against Rick Scott. From the memo of pollster Tom Eldon: After a sustained period of positive advertising for Scott and two weeks of negative advertising attacking Sink on everything from her performance as CFO to her relationship to Bank of America, Scott now finds himself trailing by 6 points statewide (47-41). More decisively, Scott has been turned upside down among NPAs. Where polling two-three weeks ago showed him comfortable leading among NPAs, he now trails by 14 points (47-33). Losing the independents by anything close to that margin is unsustainable, if he expects to win in 19 days.
Undoubtedly, Sink’s commercials addressing Scott’s legal and business difficulties have restored Scott’s past to prominence in this race. Sink now finds herself in a strong position to close the deal over the last three weeks.
Scott’s name identification is now at 33% favorable to 50% unfavorable. On intensity, 9% rate him very favorable to 34% very unfavorable. Among NPAs, he’s rated 28/53.
Sink’s name identification sits at 43% favorable to 40% unfavorable with 22 and 21 percent at very favorable and very unfavorable, respectively. Among NPAs, she stands at 41/38.
