Democratic activist booted from DEC
A state Democratic party judicial council in April voted to recommend that longtime Democratic activist, DNC member Jon Ausman of Tallahassee be removed from the Leon County executive committee. The complaints included Ausman constantly sowing dissension and infighting in the party and appearing to sell his endorsement to Jeff Greene in last year's Democratic U.S. Senate primary.
Ausman "violated our charter specifically and, in the alternative, generally engaged in conduct of such an outrageous nature as to violate the understood professional standards of our party," said the council, calling Ausman's actions "disingenuous. outrageous and rose to the level of unprofessional conduct as to be beyond that which is acceptable to the Council of the Florida Democratic Party." Translation? He's a huge pain in the neck.
Well, state Democratic chairman Rod Smith decided to go easier on Ausman, suspending Ausman from the executive committee until Dec. 1, 2012. He will entertain reinstating Ausman after June 1, 2012. "A lesser penalty will send a sufficient message to the offender and deter such conduct in the future,” Smith wrote.
