Democrats go after Florida Republicans on radio and at the gas pump
National Democrats on Monday will begin another wave of attacks on Republican members of Congress, including five from Florida. The effort will include radio spots, ads above the pumps at gas stations, canvassing and phone banks, according to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.
“Congressman David Rivera voted to end Medicare forcing seniors to pay more to protect tax breaks for Big Oil and millionaires. Tell Rivera stop choosing millionaires over seniors," says a narrator in the ad to run in Miami. The ad is a reference to a House budget plan that called for overhauling Medicare while slashing trillions in spending over the next decade. It passed the House without any Democratic support and was defeated in the Senate.
Other Florida targets are Reps. C.W. Bill Young of Indian Shores; Dan Webster of Winter Garden; Vern Buchanan of Sarasota; and Steve Southerland of Panama City.
