Democrats go to radio to highlight Vern Buchanan's problems
The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee plans to run radio ads in Rep. Vern Buchanan's Southwest Florida district to highlight his FEC problems.
The FEC wants to impose a $67,900 fine on a car dealership Buchanan formerly co-owned, alleging an “extensive and ongoing scheme” to reimburse employees who made contributions to Buchanan's campaign. Buchanan is a higher profile position now as one of the chief fundraisers for House Republicans.
"Congressman Vern Buchanan. His old business was caught illegally funneling over sixty thousand dollars in campaign donations to Buchanan to influence his election. Tell Buchanan to come clean," states the ad, which is scheduled to begin Monday. The DCCC said it would run for a week on four stations, but did not provide more detail.
