Democrats push Medicare issue in Florida Congressional districts

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee said today it is launching various ads against Congressional Republicans, including several in Florida, for supporting a GOP budget plan that overhauls Medicare.

The Florida reps are: Daniel Webster (8); Bill Young (10); Vern Buchanan (13); Tom Rooney (16); Allen West (22); and David Rivera (25).

The DCCC said it would run news-weather-traffic radio ads, web ads, automated and live phone calls, and sending nearly 4.5 million “action alert” e-mails throughout the next two weeks.

A radio ad goes, "Did you know Congressman Daniel Webster voted to end Medicare forcing seniors to pay $12,500 for private health insurance, without guaranteed coverage? Tell Webster to keep his hands off our Medicare."

The question is, how big is the ad buy? DCCC hasn't provided that info. But the conservative American Crossroads checked its media buyers and found paltry sums. In Rep. Young's district, for example, Democrats have paid for $340 in radio time. Against Webster, the Democrats are blowing a whopping $200.
