Dems attack CW Bill
The Democrats are taking off the gloves in their effort to unseat Rep. C.W. Bill Young.
State party Chair Karen Thurman sent an email to Democrats today that says Young "knew about the problems at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, but he didn't do anything about them."
She wrote that Young "was more worried about the potential public relations disaster than he was about the wounded soldiers falling out of their beds and sleeping in their own urine at the nation's premier military hospital. His silence on this issue is a moral outrage."
She urges Democrats to write newspapers and elected officials and invites them to visit a new Web site (here).
"Florida's 10th Congressional district - a Democratic-leaning area, where a Congressman blatantly failed America's veterans - could be extremely competitive in 2008," Thurman wrote. "We have to start now to take back this seat...There is Democratic momentum in this region."
Update: Young wrote back to Thurman this afternoon. See letter below under comments. The Republican Party of Florida also issued a release that said, "The Florida Democrat Party is desperate to score political points, clearly forgetting that Congressman Young is one of Florida’s most respected leaders on military issues."
