Dennis Ross gets NRCC backing in bid to replace Adam Putnam
Former state Rep. Dennis Ross, who wants to replace Adam Putnam in Congress, has scored the endorsement of the National Republican Congressional Committee - adding to an already forceful roster of backers.
NRCC chairman Pete Sessions, R-Texas, wrote Ross a letter: “In just a few months’ time, you have proven to be an exceptional candidate with the overwhelming support of Republican leaders and citizens throughout the 12th Congressional District and state of Florida. It is evident that those who know you best are confident that you will continue Rep. Adam Putnam’s legacy of putting principles above politics and will work for the best interests of the people of this district.”
UPDATE: Jessica Santillo, a Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee spokeswoman, notes that, “Dennis Ross’ decision to promote NRCC Chairman Pete Sessions’ endorsement as news broke of Sessions’ involvement in an earmark scandal raises serious questions about Ross’ judgment. Does Dennis Ross agree with NRCC Chairman Pete Sessions’ decision to spend $1.6 million taxpayer dollars for improving blimps to an out-of-state company with no experience in government contracting or building blimps?"
