Dudley Goodlette's new venture
Former state Rep. J. Dudley Goodlette is joining Southern Strategy Group, the lobbying firm founded by Paul Bradshaw, who served as Gov. Jeb Bush's issues coordinator in his 1998 campaign and helped write the governor's second inaugural address.
Goodlette, 58, a lawyer from Naples, was a highly regarded legislator whose career ended when he was termed out in 2006.
As a former lawmaker, Goodlette is prohibited from lobbying the Legislature for two years, but he can offer strategic advice to partners at Southern Strategy Group. Goodlette was chairman of the Rules and Calendar Council in his last two years in the House, and was among the lawmakers who pressed last year for a blanket prohibition on lawmakers accepting anything of value from lobbyists.
