Ex-legislator charged with domestic violence
Lakeland Ledger: WINTER HAVEN -- Deputies have accused Baxter Troutman of battering his wife.
Troutman is accused of throwing a bedspread and hitting Rebecca Troutman in the face Sunday night. Sunday was Troutman's 46th birthday.
Baxter Troutman, 2502 Partridge Drive in Winter Haven, is a former state representative and long-time Republican. He is the grandson of the late citrus and cattle magnate Ben Hill Griffin Jr.
He was charged with domestic violence-battery and spent the night in the Polk County Jail. He was released during a first-appearance hearing in court on Monday without having to post bail.
