Feeney: Romney hurt himself on Schiavo
Tom Feeney chatted with the Politico the other day. From the piece:
"...Feeney also conceded that Romney's comments over the weekend on the campaign trail about it being a mistake for the government to have intervened in the Terri Schiavo case probably wouldn't boost Romney's efforts to woo the base."
"And about the current occupant of the White House? Feeney didn't hesitate when asked if President Bush had hurt the Republican brand with independents in his politically-strategic and competitive Central Florida District.
"Probably, yeah," he admitted. "He has hurt us on spending and fiscal responsibility," Feeney noted, adding that Bush's stance on immigration wasn't helping either. Unaffiliated voters in FL-24 were probably 60-40 for the GOP four years ago, Feeney estimated, but went about 70-30 Dem in last fall's elections. "
