First bills for 2007 filed
Despite the Legislature's reluctance to approve claims bills, state senators have already filed 18 for the upcoming session. One, by Sen. Dave Aronberg, seeks compensation for Alan Crotzer, the St. Petersburg man released from prison earlier this year after serving 24 years on a rape charge. He was cleared through DNA evidence.
Sen. Nan Rich has introduced legislation for Minouche Noel, who was paralyzed as an infant during botched surgery at a public hospital. The House last session passed a claims bill for the girl, now a teenager, but the Senate did not take it up. (Full list in comments)
