Florida firms picked to defend BP, other oil firms
More than 225 lawsuits already are in the works against BP for the Gulf of Mexico oil disaster and more attorneys are working the gulf coast to sign plaintiffs for more litigation. But who will defend BP and the other companies tied to the disaster?
Three prominent Florida law firms have been picked.
Akerman Senterfitt, Florida's largest law firm, landed BP and will handle all of its Florida civil litigation. Florida's second-largest firm, Greenberg Traurig, will defend Cameron International, the maker of the failed blowout preventer. And Broad and Cassel will represent Halliburton Energy Services, which pumped cement at the well.
