Former Gov. Candidate to Endorse Smith
Former state senator and 2002 Democratic gubernatorial candidate Daryl Jones of Miami is expected to endorse Rod Smith Thursday at a campaign rally in Delray Beach.
For those new to the state, Jones is a U.S. Air Force figher pilot once nominated by President Bill Clinton to be Secretary of the U.S. Air Force. He joined the state House in 1990 and the state Senate in 1992. In 2002 as the first black gubernatorial candidate in modern times, he came in third in the three-way primary behind Bill McBride and Janet Reno.
Said Jones: "Rod has what it takes to win and to lead."
