Former Rubio aide jumps in House race
Richard Corcoran, a Republican who had a short stint advising former Speaker Marco Rubio, confirmed today he is going to run for Rep. Tom Anderson's seat.
The TBRC member and contracted attorney for Pasco Sheriff Bob White said he's going to push for lower taxes and lower insurance rates, per his announcement.
Anderson, R-Dunedin, cannot run in 2010 because of term limits for the post representing Pinellas and Pasco counties. The opening has already drawn other interest, including the candidacy of Pasco School Board member Kathryn Starkey, a Republican.
Corcoran, 44, of Trinity made his announcement after another potential opening closed. Pasco School Board member Cathi Martin reversed her planned resignation recently, rendering Corcoran's application for her job moot.
