Fred Karl accepts award for his mother from Gov. Rick Scott
Legendary Tampa politico Fred Karl was in Tallahassee on Tuesday to accept his mother's induction into the Florida Women's Hall of Fame. Mary Brennan Karl, who died in 1948, founded Daytona Beach's Mary Karl Vocational School, which is now Daytona State College. Karl, during more than 50 years of public service, has been a Supreme Court judge, Hillsborough County administrator and state legislator. "He's basically had very job other than mine in this state," said Gov. Rick Scott before he presented the award to Karl. Anna Rodriguez, a Bonita Springs activist fighting human trafficing, also was inducted into the Hall of Fame.
