Gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender alliance leaders in Broward County announced their support of Jim Davis on Saturday - the same day Davis and Democratic rival Rod Smith appeared at a gay caucus rally in Tallahassee.

"He is so clearly a man who respects people no matter what their differences are. You see it whether he's talking to a large group of Democrats here in South Florida or a small group in North Florida," said group member Ken Keechl, a candidate for Broward County Commission. "His message is the same all over the state, and it's sincere."

UPDATE : The Davis campaign Web site still lists Mark LaFontaine as endorsing Davis but no longer includes his affiliation. See comments for why he was not pleased.
