Global warming skeptic on GOP agenda
Apparently the Florida Republican Women's Network hasn't received Charlie Crist's talking points. While the Gov. is making nice with Bobby Kennedy Jr and winning praise from enviros for his global warming policies, the Network has invited one of the most prominent global warming contrarians, Patrick Michaels, to keynote its banquet Saturday night in Orlando.
Michaels, a UVA professor and Cato Institute senior fellow who reportedly has receives lots of funding from the coal industry, argues that global warming is nowhere near the threat many say it is.
Susan Glickman and Melissa Meehan of the Southern Alliance for Clean Energy got wind of the event and are urging the club to cancel the speech. From their letter: " Dr. Michaels is not a credible scientist and his position on global warming is not only wrong, it’s dangerous. We would like to understand why, when scientific clarity on the issue of global warming is growing; you would solicit a well-known global warming denier to confuse women in Florida on this incredibly important issue."
