GOP support for cig tax
Two key Pasco lawmakers signaled their backing for a higher sales tax on cigarettes during this morning's Pasco legislative delegation meeting. They were responding to a plea from County Commissioner Pat Mulieri, who sits on the local board of the American Cancer Society.
"I'm fully in support of the cigarette tax," Rep. Tom Anderson, R-Dunedin, said to applause. "I'm going to be pushing to have a cigarette tax."
"And believe it or not, I am going to be supporting Rep. Anderson," said Sen. Mike Fasano, R-New Port Richey and second in command in the senate.
Audience members cheered and waved "It's okay to pass the buck" signs.
