Gov. Charlie Bronson?
UPDATE: Charlie Crist on Bronson possibly running to be his successor: "I have been hearing that. Charlie’s a friend and a super guy. He’s been, in my humble opinion, a great commissioner of agriculture. And little more than a month, we’ll see …"
Outgoing agriculture commissioner Charles Bronson confirms The Buzz that he's seriously looking at running for
governor if Charlie Crist jumps to the US Senate. "Yes, I've been making some calls over the past few weeks to test the waters...It looks good. A lot of people say, "Go for it. I'd like to see you run,' " said Bronson, a sixth generation Floridian who has spent eight years on the cabinet and 7 in the legislature.
Fellow cabinet members and would-be gubernatorial candidates Bill McCollum and Alex Sink already are raising reelection money that could be shifted into a governor's race, but Bronson isn't forming any committees yet: "It sounds like Gov. Crist may be going for the U.S. Senate, but we won't know for sure until he says so. It would be presumptuous of me to start raising money to run for governor until he makes that statement."
