Gov. Scott will throw switch at Florida State Fair
Gov. Rick Scott on Thursday will "throw the switch" and officially light up the midway at the Florida State Fair in Tampa. The governor -- known as an early riser -- will light up the fair at 6:35 a.m. along with Agriculture Commissioner Adam Putnam.
The event kicks off a series of events in Tampa, including a Cabinet meeting, the annual Governor's Day Luncheon at the fair and the unveiling of a new Visit Florida TV advertising campaign. Scott will not take part in one fair-related event: the traditional ride down the fair's giant slide, scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Thursday. Putnam, CFO Jeff Atwater and Attorney General Pam Bondi are expected to take part in the slide.
