A green light for wildlife appointees
Gov. Charlie Crist's four new appointees to the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission won unanimous support from a Senate committee Thursday. The four faced a few questions about their commitment to preserving clean air and water and public access to conservation lands, but that was about it. "I think we're in good hands," said the panel's chairman, Sen. Burt Saunders, R-Naples.
The four (left to right) are Ken Wright, an Orlando development attorney; Broward County construction executive Dwight Stephenson, a former Miami Dolphins player; Kathy Barco, an executive of a Jacksonville road-building company; and Broward County developer Ron Bergeron. Some environmentalists were highly critical when Crist made three of the four appointments (all but Stephenson) last summer; you can read more about that here.
