Greene launches attack ad on 'Meek scandal'
It was only a matter of time until billionaire Jeff Greene, who is bankrolling his own Senate campaign, made Democratic rival Kendrick Meek's ties to accused crook Dennis Stackhouse the subject of a television commercial. The real question is: how will Meek respond? Does he start dipping into his far more limited campaign account? Or does he hold his fire until closer to the Aug. 24 primary?
Stackhouse is facing charges that he stole about $1 million in private and public loans for a proposed development in one of Miami's poorest neighborhoods. Meek sought federal funding for Stackhouse, but says he had no idea Stackhouse was a bad guy or that he was paying his mother as a consultant.
