Greer: No pay-TV presidential debate

State Republican Chairman Jim Greer says presidential hopefuls who take part in the GOP's Oct. 21 debate on the FOX News Channel  won't be charged a fee to be on TV.

Greer issued a statement Tuesday evening that said in part: "Candidates will not be charged a fee to participate in the presidential debate. Eligibility to participate in the debate will be determined by a criteria established by the Republican Party of Florida and FOX News Channel at a later date."

Some news reports cited a $100,000 debate admission fee. That may be a charge the RPOF is considering charging candidates to participate in the complete series of weekend events in Orlando on Oct. 20-21.

Party spokesman Jeff Sadosky declined further comment beyond Greer's statement. "We have not talked about any costs," Sadosky said.
