Hasner once advertised 'moderate leanings'

Blogger Jack Furnari of has unearthed an old Adam Hasner campaign mailer that touts his "moderate leanings." Hasner is running for the U.S. Senate as a rigid conservative and his team has aggressively pushed back on talk that his record is more moderate, particularly in his early years as a state representative. (The Times/Herald recently explored his record.)

"Hasner not only sought the moderate Republican label, he actively campaigned on it. But, hey, don't take the word of the liberal media, or even the conservative media. Take a look at Hasner's own campaign mailer from 2004, where he highlights one of the very quotes (campaign adviser Rick) Wilson denies," writes Furnari, who also shows Hasner's connections to Charlie Crist.

Furnari had supported Mike Haridopolos and there were questions that he helped an activist file an ethics complaint against Hasner, which he denied.

Hasner's team said its response had not changed from when the Buzz first reported on Hasner's past.

"This has never been a a guy who ran as a moderate and certainly not a guy who governed as a moderate. His voting record is that of a limited government conservative,'' said Wilson, accusing the George LeMieux campaign of trying tarnish Hasner with the moderate label to Republicans in Washington. "This stuff is coming from George LeMieux, who waged a 10-year war against conservatives."
