Hillary's Fla. friends for Barack UPDATED - RNC responds
Clinton's supporters in the Florida delegation to the U.S. House have formally endorsed Barack Obama, the Democratic Party's presumptive presidential nominee: Reps. Corrine Brown of Jacksonville, Alcee Hastings of Miramar, Kendrick Meek of Miami, and Debbie Wasserman Schultz, of Weston.
Here's their statement:
“It is with enthusiasm and excitement that we endorse Barack Obama for President.
“We are looking forward to working with Senator Obama in the days, weeks, and months ahead. America cannot afford another four years of failed Republican leadership, and we are committed to doing anything and everything in our power to ensure that Barack Obama is elected the next President of the United States.
“We also ask Senator Obama to do everything in his power to see to it that Florida has a full delegation to the Democratic National Convention with full voting rights."
Amber Wilkerson, Republican National Committee spokeswoman, offered this rebuttal:
“Regardless of endorsements, Floridians are sure to reject Barack Obama’s vision for ‘change,’ including his plans to negotiate with hostile leaders, raise taxes for families and small businesses, and choke off funding for our nation’s brave men and women in uniform.”
