House Democrats on Ralph Arza

Here's the full text of the House Democratic Caucus' letter warning that Democrast may boycott next month's organizational session if Rep. Ralph Arza, R-Hialeah, is not removed from office.

"Dear Speaker Bense and Speaker-Designate Rubio,

The Florida House Democratic Caucus today, in an emergency conference call, adopted the following resolution:

"The House Democratic Caucus resolves that Representative Ralph Arza, due to his repeated contemptuous behavior which has brought disrepute to himself and the House, should immediately resign his office. His failure to immediately resign should result in his expulsion by the House.

We further resolve not to take the floor with Representative Arza present except to vote for his expulsion or accept his resignation."

While we do not seek to prejudge this matter, it is clear from his own recent apology and from other reliable information, that Representative Arza's actions are simply too extreme to tolerate. While we hope he may find help and redemption in those avenues available to him, we do not believe any resolution could ever include his retention of the privilege of public office.

We appreciate that you have treated this matter with the seriousness it merits,

On behalf of the Democratic Caucus,

Representative Dan Gelber Representative Chris Smith
