House dismisses complaint against gaming lobbyist

17

February

A House committee dismissed a complaint filed by the Florida Arcade & Bingo Association against its lobbyist Frank Mirabella, according to a ruling released Wednesday. The group alleged that Mirabella, with Mirabella, Smith & McKinnon Inc., failed to disclose his interest in gaming operations run by the Disabled American Veterans, which conflicted with the association's goal on gambling legislation. (See complaint attached to ruling.)

Rules Committee Chairman Bill Galvano said House rules governing lobbyists' behavior didn't apply in this situation and suggested pursuing action in court. Galvano, a Republican, represents Bradenton, where Mirabella has a 1/4 interest in the DAV gaming operations.

This is the second complaint dismissed against Mirabella for his involvement in gaming.
