House Republicans: Dems 'obstruct' tax relief

June

The House Majority Office sent out the following after today's council vote:

“Too often in Tallahassee the lobbyists triumph over the people, and the rank politics triumphs over good policy,” said Majority Leader Adam Hasner (R-Delray Beach). “Today, despite the efforts of some politicians to obstruct property tax relief, we struck a blow for the taxpayers, and the millions of people throughout our state who can’t afford to pay their current property tax bills, let alone pay for lobbyists and slick PR campaigns. It is disappointing that so many Democrats chose to ignore the voices of the taxpayers, chose to side with local government, and chose to repeat the scare tactics and empty rhetoric of those who oppose meaningful property tax relief.”

“Any vote against either of the bills presented today was a vote against property tax relief, plain and simple,” said Representative Dean Cannon (R- Winter Park). “No amount of spin or scare tactics can erase the fact that the plan we approved today is the single largest tax relief package in Florida history. The people who opposed this bill sent a clear message to the taxpayers of this state, and I can assure you that the taxpayers will send a clear message to them.”
