House turns over Sansom records to FBI
The Florida House has completed its record search as part of a federal subpoena for an investigation of former Rep. Ray Sansom.
The House will provide the FBI with dozens of pages of travel reimbursement records for Sansom, R-Destin, and several of his staffers. On their own the documents reveal little, and federal authorities have not said precisely what they are looking for. But travel records could mean authorities will look at how Sansom used taxpayer funds.
Gary Fineout reported this week that Sansom dipped into leftover campaign funds to reimburse himself thousands of dollars -- and to pick up travel costs during his time in office.
A federal grand jury will hear testimony next week in Pensacola.
