How rivals Charlie Crist and Marco Rubio both win
Charlie Crist backed the winner and Marco Rubio backed the loser. But Election Day brought upsides for both, rivals in Florida's 2010 Senate race.
Crist's 2014 gubernatorial prospects brightened after endorsing Obama then appearing with him across the state in recent weeks. Alex Sink, meanwhile, was virtually invisible. If Crist runs for governor, expect a hand from Obama. There's also a possibility Crist could end up in the Obama administration.
Rubio's really late, lukewarm endorsement of Romney vanished as he emerged as one of his most energetic surrogates. Rubio didn't help Romney much, not even among Hispanics. But Rubio helped himself, jumping from swing state to swing state charming crowds and making key contacts. Already (help us) the 2016 buzz has begun. Bonus: Rubio's legally embattled pal David Rivera lost, putting some distance between him and the Republican star.
