'I needed water, what am I going to do?'
Sen. Marco Rubio hit the TV news circuit this morning, hard, expanding on his State of the Union rebuttal. But his painfully awkward sip of water remains the dominant takeaway.
"You know, when you give a speech you have a podium and the water's right there," Rubio said on Fox this morning. "But when you don’t, you start looking around, ‘Where am I going to get the water from?’” I figured I was better off just taking that water and taking the hit for it than being unable to pronounce my words. ... My mouth got dry, what can I say?"
“I mean I needed water, what am I going to do?” he said on Good Morning America. “God has a funny way of reminding us that we’re human.”
