Jeb Bush Endorses Jim King for Senate

As expected, Bush endorsed Jim King for Senate in King's competitive race to keep his seat in a presser at Repulican Party headquarters in Tallahassee. Supporters of challenger and Christian activist Randall Terry stood outside with signs that read: "Say it isn't so Jeb."

Bush defended King's conservative credentials. He noted that King had overseen the early passage of Terri Schiavo legislation (the one the Florida Supreme Court struck down) before King later decided to oppose more last-ditch legislation in the weeks before Schiavo died.

"Randall Terry made no positive contributions related to the issues related to Terri Schiavo," Bush said.

King practically danced with glee.
"Not to underplay the importance of this event. . .but 86 percent of my people in District 8 think (Jeb) hung the moon. Don't think for a minute that we're not going to ride this endorsement all the way to victory."

At that point, Bush made a pained face and motioned to his back, as if his coat-tails were straining him.
